The purpose of the Media Relations Unit is to provide timely, efficient and accurate information to the public.  This is facilitated by the transfer of information through interviews, news conferences and media releases. In 2011, the Department started using social media to provide information to the public. In 2016, the Public Information Office was expanded into the newly named Media Relations Unit, which now includes social media responsibilities, video production and the Department’s webpage administration. These expanded areas allow the unit to provide education, training and awareness for both the community and employees.
