The Richardson Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, Inc. (CPAAA) was founded in 1993 by the graduating members of the inaugural class in order to support the Richardson Police Department. The CPAAA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization comprised of Richardson Citizen Police Academy (CPA) graduates. As citizen ambassadors to the Richardson Police Department, the group assists the police department with volunteer activities and special needs.
The Richardson Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) is made up of Richardson citizens who have completed and graduated from the Citizen Police Academy and become members of the Alumni Association.
The Alumni Association functions as a support group to the Department and is a liaison to the community for the Department. The Special Operations Captain acts as the liaison between the Alumni Association and the Department.
The Alumni Association sponsors the annual RPD Employee Appreciation Day and the annual Scholarship Program for graduating seniors of Department employees. The Association is also active in the swearing in ceremonies of new Apprentice Police Officers and providing assistance to ill or injured Department employees and their families. The CPAAA has provided goody bags to those RPD employees working on Christmas for many years.
The Association has meetings throughout the year and most of them are held at the substation. The programs, for our members, deal with law enforcement activities. We also support the Citizen Police Academy Class during the 16 weeks they are in session.
Members of the Association are dedicated to doing what we can to let the Richardson Police Department know how much we and the citizens of Richardson appreciate the work done by the Department.
