The Property & Evidence Section's primary responsibility is to intake, inventory and store property and evidence.

Seized and Recovered Property:
All items must be authorized by the assigned detective prior to release.
Citizens must contact the assigned detective/officer regarding their seized property, after contacting the detective/officer, the citizen may contact Property and Evidence to schedule and appointment for pick up. An appointment must be made prior to picking up property.

Found Property:
For found property, the citizen may contact the Property and Evidence Unit directly at 972-744-4843.

Firearms:
All firearms must have prior authorization from the Major Crime Sergeant in order to be released.

Impounded Vehicles
Vehicles that are impounded by the Richardson Police Department are taken to the City of Richardson’s contracted Vehicle Impound Facility. The Vehicle Impound Facility is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Vehicle Impound Facility is operated by and located at:
