The Richardson Police Department allows officers to work secondary law enforcement-related jobs during their off-duty time. However, Richardson Police Officers may only work off-duty jobs scheduled through the Richardson Police Department and only within the Richardson city limits.
The Department will help individuals and business with connecting an off-duty officer that can provide a police presence for heightened safety and security. All assignments must be approved in advance by the Richardson Police Department.
To efficiently respond to requests and manage the employment of off-duty police officers, the Richardson Police Department has partnered with RollKall to provide services related to hiring off-duty officers effective January 1st, 2023. RollKall handles all payment processing and provides access to the client and officer a $1 million general liability insurance per incident.

- Supervisor * - A supervisor will be required when five or more officers at an off-duty employment.
- Holiday Rate ** - The holiday rate will apply to New Year's Day, Memorial Day, MLK Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday), Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
- Police Vehicle Fee *** - If approved, the police vehicle will be paid to the City of Richardson
