Basic Job Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Type 45 WPM
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Multi-tasking & people skills essential 
  • Able to follow instructions, prioritize appropriately and make good decisions
  • Able to communicate effectively in English (verbally & written)
  • Hearing within normal range
  • Available to work any shift (weekends, days/nights, holidays)

Extensive Training Program on all positions in the Communications Center to include: 

  • TCOLE Telecommunication License
  • TCIC/NCIC Basic Certification
  • NAEMD Advanced Medical Priority Dispatch Certification
  • Basic CPR Certification

Our emergency Communication Center operates 24x7x365 and answers over 240,000 calls from citizens a year.  We capture essential information to successfully process requests for Police, Fire and Medical Service and dispatch responders within the city limits of Richardson.
